Signs of dyslexia

Click here to buy our Reading & Spelling Program for dyslexia
When you see more eraser marks than pencil marks in your child's writing...

Many parents have struggled for years trying to find out why their child can't read like other children. They may even remember themselves struggling in school when they were young, and now have to go through the torture of watching history repeat itself. If you are such a parent, you're in the right place.

"Research shows that one out of every five children in the United States are dyslexic”

Has anyone suggested it may be Dyslexia?
Here are some classic warning signs of dyslexia

  • Can read a word on one page, but won't recognize it on the next page.

  • Mispronouncing words, i.e., pisgetti for spaghetti, aminal for animal, capertillar for caterpillar.

Becomes visibly tired after reading for only a short time.

  • Spelling is far worse than their reading.  They have extreme difficulty with vowel sounds, and often leave them out.

  • Confusion between left and right - which explains the classic b-d confusion. One points to the left and one points to the right.
  • Memorizing non-meaningful facts is extremely hard for someone with dyslexia. Which means, learning the sequence of the alphabet, or the days of the week, or even just learning to spell your name and address could seem to take years to learn.  And let's not even talk about multiplication tables!

  • Homework is a nightmare! It takes forever to complete and often leaves the child extremely frustrated.

  • People with dyslexia can have extreme difficulty telling time on a clock with hands.

  • People with dyslexia often have messy bedrooms, lockers, desks, backpacks, purses, etc.

"My goal is to spread awareness about dyslexia to parents in and around Northern California. I offer free consultation, and also screening and tutoring services to anyone who struggles with dyslexia or reading, spelling and writing challenges." - Roma Chadha

All the information above is given in great detail in a free webcast by an expert in the field of dyslexia, Susan Barton.  To watch this free online video click on the link Dyslexia: Symptoms and Solutions.  If you or your child has dyslexia, you will recognize many warning signs talked about in this video. You can also get details on dyslexia (and watch the same free online video) by going to Susan Barton's website brightsolutions.us.

Another wonderful and reliable research-based resource is the book Overcoming Dyslexia by Sally Shaywitz, a neuroscientist who has conducted a great amount of research in the field of dyslexia.  And yes, there is an audio (mp3) version of this book available on Amazon. com.  Here is a link to an interview with Sally Shaywitz where she talks about her work.

Please email me at info@iSeeiSpelliLearn.com to discuss your options if you feel you or someone you know may have dyslexia.
